our process

While each playground is unique, we've worked hard to keep our design and installation process consistent. So you know exactly what to expect each step of the way.

welcome to dbdplay!

At dbdplay, we pride ourselves in providing bespoke playgrounds but a consistently excellent client experience. Here's what you can expect once you get in contact...

our process

a team member measuring a playground

understanding your needs

The best place to start is with a meeting where we focus on your outcomes and educational needs. It is essential that we understand your goals for the redesigned area - is this increased physical activity or the creation of an outside space for learning and development?

Following the meeting, our design team will set to work. Guided by your outcomes and our Play Values, they will create a playground design to meet your specific developmental needs and budget. The design proposal will include a full cost breakdown and 3D design visualisation.

The environment and the sustainability of our products and materials are an important part of our design process. You can read our Environmental Policy here. In recent years, we have made a commitment to reduce the amount of highly processed plastics in our product design and to source more natural alternatives. Our timber is FSC certified Radiata from managed forests in Scotland.

This is your playground, so consultation is key. We will listen to you and your pupils and transform your ideas into reality. We may need to have more than one meeting and you may want to make changes or tweaks to the design - this isn’t a problem. The most important thing is that the playground we design and build is exactly what you need and supports your school and the curriculum.

Once an order is placed our Operations Department take over to ensure that everything we need to build your playground is manufactured and in stock. We have a team of in house product designers and carpenters who are constantly designing and building new items of playground equipment.

It is important to us that we only use our own, trusted installation teams. This way, we can ensure that whoever is building your playground is properly qualified, DBS checked and understands how to work safely within a school/nursery environment.

Our installation team leaders have been building playgrounds for nearly 20 years and they love it. As a result, they are fountains of knowledge when it comes to safe playground construction.

Following your playground installation, you will receive a Care Guide with maintenance checks and advice to help to keep your new playground in tip top condition. However, we are always at the end of the phone should you have any questions or concerns.

We hope that you will have many years of enjoyment from our playground equipment, and for peace of mind we have detailed below our guarantees in the downloadable document below, which cover failure arising from material or manufacturing defects.

The team at dbdplay did a fantastic job transforming our play area at the heart of the school. They managed a complicated build during term time and we are grateful for the finished product.

The only issue we have now is getting the children and families to leave at the end of the day :)

Just a quick line to say how pleased we all are with the new playground equipment.

It looks fantastic and the children are absolutely thrilled with it!

Thank you so much for your advice, design work, and our sincere thanks to the installation team for their hard work installing everything, especially in the really hot weather.
