Setting the Scene

Southwick CofE Primary School is situated in Trowbridge and has 190 children enrolled. Southwick is a Community School maintained by Wiltshire County Council. It has close links to the church and therefore promotes strong Christian values which form the ‘golden threads’ of their school life.

Customer Objectives

Southwick was looking to add to their EYFS outside area and had requested a climbing frame which would develop upper body strength in their small courtyard.

Our Solution

Our aim for this area was to create a space that would inspire Physical, Social and Imaginative Play.

The Climbing Rope and Fireman’s Pole encourages children to develop their upper body and core strength. The worktop offers the perfect opportunity for Imaginative Play, it could be a shop counter, a den, a drive through etc, encouraging open-ended play.

The surfacing around the climbing frame was very similar to that of their existing artificial grass, therefore creating continuity throughout the playground.
